NMS Investigations Inc.

NMS Investigations is a licensed and insured private investigation company that provides investigations and expert witness services for fire, arson and explosion incidents.  NMS has provided these services throughout California since 2005 and just recently relocated to beautiful Coeur d Alene, Idaho. NMS will continue to work with clients in California and is looking forward to meeting new clients in NMS Investigations new home state.

Nina Scotti has been involved with fire for over 30 years.  She started as a firefighter and worked her way through the ranks to Arson Investigator.  She retired from the Arson Investigation Unit after 21 years working with the City of Pasadena, California.  Prior to her fire department career, she completed over 8,000 hours of study in the field of electrical theory and maintenance. She then was certified as a Journeyman Electrician through the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.  She further went on to obtain her California Electrical C-10 Contractors license which she still holds today.

After retiring from the fire department she was fortunate to land a position as Western Regional Investigator with one of the largest insurance companies in the Nation.  The knowledge she gained working in the private sector was outstanding.  In 2005 she established NMS Investigations, Inc., a private investigation company specializing in Fire & Explosions.

Nina is a Certified Fire Investigator with the California Conference of Arson Investigators, a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator and Instructor with the National Association of Fire Investigators and is an active member with the International Association of Arson Investigators.  She holds a certification as an investigator with the California State Fire Marshal’s Office along with other ranking certified positions.  She has trained with the FBI in Post-Blast Investigations and holds a certification from them as a Post-Blast Investigator.

Nina has been accepted as an expert witness and testified in the Superior Courts of Los Angeles, Orange County, Riverside County, Kings County, Inyo County and the State of Washington.  Her court qualified fields of expertise include fire, arson, explosions, subrogation and electrical.

Nina has exceeded over 4,000 investigations in her fields of expertise and completed a K-9 Handlers course where she was certified as a K-9 Team with her dog “Blaze”. Blaze no longer sniffs out fire scenes but remains a trusted companion.

Keeping up with technology and always finding better ways to assist the investigation scene process, Nina certified with the FAA to fly drones.  Having the ability to look down on a fire scene is a big advantage especially in large commercial loses where the integrity of the structure hinders investigators from entering the structure.  Drone Photography also plays a big part when investigating wildfires.  Looking down on the charred remains allows investigators to see directional fire patterns that help identify the general area of fire origin.
