Members may apply to our Certified Private Investigator training and certification program.
PIAI Membership Information & Requirements
The Private Investigators Association Of Idaho has five different types of memberships, please call, email or submit a form inquiry about becoming a member.
Active Membership
$100/year + $45 non refundable background check fee at the time of membership application. Active members receive a membership ID card in addition to the standard member certificate for presentation to prospective clients.
- Must be currently practicing as a Private Investigator within the state of Idaho.
- Provide proof of at least 250 hours of verifiable work experience as a private investigator. See professional experience hour requirement discounts below.
- Pass a background check.
Professional Work Experience Hour Requirement Discounts
Military & Law Enforcement: 50% reduction to 125 verifiable hours of professional work experience.
Private Investigation Education: 25% reduction to 187 verifiable hours of professional work experience.
Associate Membership
$75/year + $45 non refundable background check fee at the time of membership application.
- Must be currently working in investigative, security, or related fields. Not restricted to Idaho only.
- Pass a background check.
Affiliate Membership
$50/year + $45 non refundable background check fee at the time of membership application.
- Individuals, suppliers, informants, or businesses in allied fields or support services. Not restricted to Idaho only.
- Pass a background check.
Entry & Retired Membership
$50/year + $45 non refundable background check fee at the time of membership application
- Individuals interested in entering the industry or enrolled in or attending course instruction, either on campus or via online to enter the investigative profession. Individuals retired from the industry. Not restricted to Idaho. Pass a background check.
